SKIN REJUVENATION

Cilt Yenileme - Dr. Nuri Battal - Nişantaşı Estetik Cerrah

In addition to aging, prolonged exposure to the sun and heredity, lifestyle, including diet, alcohol and smoking, and an intense and overly stressful life cause the face to wrinkle.

Pigmentary changes such as brown spots on the skin occur as a result of birth control pills, pregnancy, hereditary factors, sun rays and the destruction of ultraviolet rays (such as solarium). In the acne that appears in the first years of youth, blemishes, pits and acne scars occur on the skin surface.

You can get rid of fine wrinkles, pigmentation problems and acne scars on your face with renewal techniques. We can benefit from these techniques at any age, for getting rid of wrinkles and blemishes, scars, and even for rejuvenation. All these problems can be eliminated with skin renewal techniques (peeling).

The main purpose of skin renewal is to ensure the renewal of the skin by preparing the ground for the formation of new cells from below through the peeling of the epidermis and partially the dermis layers of the skin.

Skin renewal techniques are divided into three:

  1. Chemical peeling (Peeling with chemical solutions)
  2. Dermabrasion (Mechanical sanding)
  3. Renewal with laser (Erbium or Carbon dioxide lasers)

All three methods provide the renewal of the tissues that provide elasticity under the skin and collagen fibers, the expansion of their volume, and the increase in their numbers. As a result, the firmness (tone) of the skin increases and it stretches. With these peeling procedures, after the old and dead upper layers of the skin are removed, the ground is prepared for a new and fresh pink skin to emerge from below. However, the appropriate method is carefully selected and applied by the plastic surgeon according to the patient. The treatments applied here are completely different from the applications made in beauty salons and called peeling, they are serious and extremely effective methods.

Suitable candidates for skin renewal

  • If your skin is wrinkled or damaged after sun exposure,
  • If you have vertical wrinkles at the edge of your lips,
  • If “crow’s feet” lines have formed around your eyes,
  • If you have fine wrinkles on your eyelid,
  • If brown spots have formed on your skin,
  • If you have acne or chickenpox scars on your skin, you can benefit from skin renewal techniques.

Skin renewal has no age. You can have it done at any age you want. The condition of your skin and the plastic surgeon will determine which technique will be applied to you. Fine lines, deep lines, deep acne scars and scars require different approaches. In addition, your recovery time plays a role in the selection of the method and treatment. With each skin renewal technique, it is possible to go down to different layers of the skin. Healing is shorter in techniques that work on the surface layers of the skin, but these techniques require more treatment sessions. Healing is slow after treatments that are effective in deep layers, but the treatment session is less and much more effective. It is possible to do skin renewal in the same session as a facelift or eye area surgery.

Treatment process

While the skin is being peeled, it can go down to a depth of 60 microns at a time. Below, there is the basal layer, the third layer of the skin, where the cells that renew the skin and the color cells called melonocytes are located. When it goes below 60 microns, the basal layer is damaged and the cells found here die. For this reason, no matter how the skin is peeled, there is not much chance of eliminating deep and widespread acne scars and wrinkles in 1 go. In this case, the treatment is planned at certain intervals, in two, if necessary, three sessions.

Chemical peeling, dermabrasion and laser skin renewal have one thing in common: Skin layers are removed and a new and healthier skin emerges during the healing period. The difference between various skin renewal methods comes from the way the skin layers are removed. Chemical solutions are used in chemical peeling, mechanical devices in dermabrasion, and laser beam in laser treatment.

1. Chemical Skin Peeling

The solution used in chemical peeling can be applied to your entire face or a specific area of the face. In other words, it is possible to treat the “crow’s feet” around your eyes and the vertical lines at the edge of your mouth with chemical peeling. There are various substances used in this application:

  • AHA solutions
  • Trichloroacetic acid (TCA)
  • Other chemicals

2. Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion, ie sanding, can be applied with various devices today. In addition to a number of wire or steel brushes, sandpapers connected to the motor or pressurized air system working with aluminum oxide crystals, the patient’s skin can be peeled with iron wood sandpapers. This method is usually used to treat scars on the face. For example, acne scars. Dermabrasion, which is mostly applied to the cheeks and the whole face, minimizes the vertical lines around the mouth, such as deep chemical peeling products. During dermabrasion, the patient is given sedatives and local anesthesia, and general anesthesia is given when a very large area is intervened.

3. Laser Skin Rejuvenation

While performing this procedure, the surgeon determines the energy that the laser beam will transfer to the skin surface and controls the depth at which the light will enter. Like other skin renewal methods, laser is also used in the treatment of wrinkles, skin blemishes, age spots and scars. The thickness and texture of your skin are also among the factors that determine whether you are suitable for laser treatment. Among all these methods, the most effective ones are new generation erbium lasers. These lasers have now become so sensitive that it has become very easy to go to the desired depth and stop at the desired depth. It is quite difficult to control the depth in chemical peeling and dermabrasion methods. This increases the risk of going deep into the skin and creating damage. With the new generation erbium laser, both depth control is easier, and it is possible to reach the lower layers of the skin without peeling or burning. In other words, it is possible to rejuvenate the deep layers under the skin without creating a burn on the skin. In short, with erbium lasers, it is possible to peel the acne scars and wrinkle lines on the skin, and at the same time, tighten the collagen fibers and tissues in the lower layers of the skin by heating them and stimulate new cell production.

Post-Treatment in Skin Rejuvenation and Rejuvenation

After the treatment, if deemed necessary by the doctor, you will be advised to apply petroleum jelly or protective ointments to your renewed skin. In some cases, the skin is covered with a bandage. Deep chemical peeling products, dermabrasion or laser can cause redness and swelling of varying degrees on the skin. Sometimes crusts form on the skin after the treatment. In the meantime, you should clean your skin thoroughly after applying the ointment.

In addition, men should not shave for a while after the peeling process. Within 7-10 days after the skin renewal process, your new skin will begin to appear. When the initial redness subsides, the skin coming from below retains its pink color for 1-2 weeks. You can do concealer makeup for 1-2 weeks. During the 1-2 weeks following skin renewal, you should avoid lying down, bending over and doing strenuous exercises.
