Stretch marks are one of the most important skin aesthetic problems of today’s people. We can describe stretch marks as the tearing of the lower layers of the skin as a result of excessive stretching of the skin beyond its expansion capacity. These lesions are seen as reddish purple from the outside when they first form. This reddish purple color is seen due to the newness of the tear and microbleeds in the skin during this tear. As the stretch mark, ie the skin tear, gets older, it turns white and is seen as white stretch marks on the skin from the outside. Since these cracks whiten over time, they are much more prominent in dark-skinned people.

The most common causes of stretch marks are very rapid weight gain and pregnancies. The most common places where it is seen are the abdominal and waist skin, buttocks, legs, breasts, and arms.

In young girls and boys who grow rapidly in adolescence, these cracks can often form on the hips and legs as a result of the skin expansion and growth not being able to keep up with this speed. To prevent it, massages can be done to these areas or at least weight gain should be limited.

In obese people, again, as a result of the patient’s excessive weight gain, the skin cannot expand sufficiently and cracks. In pregnancies, too, if the patient gains more weight than normal, the skin cannot adapt to the body growth and cracks.

For these reasons, not gaining weight is very important. If pregnant women maintain their ideal weight and go with a one-kilo account per month, they will both preserve their body aesthetics, stay healthy, and be protected from these deformities and stretch marks inherited after pregnancy.

It is quite difficult to completely treat the formed stretch marks. The important thing is to prevent them from forming.

Treatment of Stretch Marks with Laser

Cracks formed in the abdomen can be eliminated together with tummy tuck surgery if there is sagging of the abdomen. After pregnancy, cracks are usually in the lower part of the abdomen, ie below the navel. These can be completely eliminated with tummy tuck surgery.

Treatment of stretch marks formed in other parts of the body is possible, albeit partially, with laser today. Cracks on the hips, legs or chest are treated with laser and their visibility is greatly reduced. Often a single session, sometimes 2-3 sessions of treatment may be required.

Laser stretch mark treatment is quite easy. Laser application is done with a light local anesthesia. After a few weeks of recovery, the crack width and depth are seriously reduced.

In laser crack treatment, both the upper layer of the cracked and torn skin is renewed and the dermis tears in the deep tissues are treated.

Microdermabrasion, which is applied in some beauty centers, has only a superficial effect and is insufficient in the treatment. The superiority of laser crack treatment is undoubtedly much greater. Because the laser affects the deep tissues and stimulates cell production in the depths for the repair of the tears in the depths.

As a result, a significant amount of recovery and healing is achieved in the cracks with laser crack treatment.
